For ChaCha to pass through 100%, three cost types must be covered. Your contribution helps cover them. Not a single cent comes from donations themselves.
Network Costs
What accrues technically with every donation. We cover this from the pool — so your donation reaches the project in full.
Transaction Costs
Secure payment processing via regulated providers. So donations arrive reliably and quickly.

- How is this different from a donation?
- A donation goes to a project of an NGO. A supporter contribution carries the platform — so others can donate 100%. Both are possible; they are different levers.
- What does ChaCha cost per month?
- Once we are live, visible in the public register — hosting, development, verification, network and transaction. Until then we communicate that in the newsletter first.
- What happens if the pool runs short?
- We communicate transparently — in the newsletter first, visible in the public register. We start deliberately small so the pool remains viable.
- Do I get a donation receipt?
- Your supporter contribution is currently not a donation in the sense of § 10b EStG, because ChaCha is not (yet) a recognised charitable body. Once the gGmbH is established (see question 9), that will likely change. This is not tax advice — please clarify your personal situation with your tax adviser.
- Can I be an anonymous supporter?
- Yes. Your name only appears if you want it to — pseudonymous, anonymous or with your full name.
- Can I cancel at any time?
- Yes, at any time. What has already flowed into the pool stays there and continues to cover platform costs.
- Can foundations or companies become supporters?
- Yes. Foundations via individual agreements — contact us. Companies will find their own programme at /raise-donations/companies (CSR pilot, premium subscriptions). A portion of these premium subscriptions also flows into the supporter pool — visible in the public register.
- Who manages the pool?
- ChaCha — and we make that comprehensible. In the public register you can see every disbursement. Medium-term, independent auditors will review the use of funds. Long-term, we want the community to co-shape governance — step by step towards collective governance. Important: your supporter contribution does not grant voting, membership, or co-determination rights — platform governance rests with the ChaCha gGmbH (or its bodies, once registered).
- Can I also donate directly to ChaCha?
- Once ChaCha is established as a non-profit GmbH (gGmbH), you will be able to donate directly to our charitable entity — with a legally compliant donation receipt. This will also be visible in the public register. Until then: supporter contributions carry the platform infrastructure and are not classic donations in the tax sense.
